Omaha Headache Treatment

Dr. Metzler is an Omaha chiropractor who has helped many patients recover from headache.

Headaches can be a nuisance, especially if they are recurring, and they can affect your daily life. Headaches can arise from a number of different reasons such as muscle tension, congestion, stress, and anything that might straing your eyesight. Whether you have a headache or a migraine, both can cause a lot of pain. While painkillers such as tylenol or ibuprofen might help to dull the pain for awhile, they don’t actually get rid of the headache.

More and more people have found themselves looking into chiropractic help as a means of curing their headache. Dr. Metzler works with tension headaches and migraine headaches often. They can not only relieve the pain, but in many cases, rid you of the cause of your headache as well. By means of therapy and massage, a chiropractor can work out muscle tension thus realigning the skeletal structures in your body. When it comes to migraines, by adjusting your spine and neck, often this will decrease the amount of pain caused by your headache, or simply get rid of it all in one.

By reducing muscular and vascular tension in the body chiropractic treatment can get you back on track so you have more time to do the things in life that you enjoy the most without having to deal with the pain. Not only is this a healthy form of manipulation but it is also a comfortable procedure which will have longer lasting affects on your body then over the counter or prescription medications. It is no wonder people are turning to this procedure as a way of eliminating their headaches. The improvement is considerably high and the outcome is usually successful. If headaches plague your everyday life, ask your physician about chiropractic and headaches during your next visit.

Radicular pain and chiropractic

Radicular pain, also known as radiculopathy, is pain and swelling in either the neck and arms or legs and feet which may affect motor skills and nerve functions. This is generally caused by pressure on the nerve roots due to scar tissue from previous surgery, injury, a herniated disc and even diseases such as diabetes and herpes. The pain that radiculopathy causes is generally a severe constant pain that radiates through the affected areas. You may find yourself in even greater pain depending on the type of activities you take part in, the way you sit or sleep, even how much you walk. This, of course, inhibits daily lifestyle.

While there are medical treatments for radicular pain such as medications, injections and even surgery, chiropractors offer a better, safer, non-invasive method of healing. Studies showed that 6 out of 8 patients treated for radiculopathy expereienced a good outcome due to the treatment of a chiropractor. Using rotation, manipulation of the spine, flexing and gentle thrusting, these patients felt either a decrease or no pain at all due to radiculopathy. Chiropractors practice the belief that they can train your body to heal itself. This is neither proven nor disputed.

If you feel you are suffering from radicular pain, chiropractic treatment might be the alternative to invasive procedures that you need along with extensive physical therapy. This form of rotary manipulation has been, for the most part, successful in a number of patients who have been pleased with the results and able to perform in normal activities again. This natural healing process can take time so it is best that the patient have confidence and patience alike. Speak with your physician about the use of chiropractic treatment for radicular pain if you feel you are suffering from this.
